Project Summary

My wife and I added about 900 SF to our house with this 3 bed 1 bath addition. The only work we did not do ourselves or with the help of friends was the drywall and the HVAC work. Everything else was completed on nights and weekends over 3 months time.

Image for garage

garage

The new 30x28 garage is finally done...we forgot to run a switch wire to control the lights on the garage, 65 feet away so the garage lights are controlled by EnOcean wireless and battery free switches from www.EnOceanWireless.com, and they work great!

I could only venture to guess we saved well over 50% of the cost to have it professionally done, the budget was tight, we made all the casing and trim inside, learned how to install aluminum soffits and fascia and vinyl siding. There are a number of good sites out there but www.askthebuilder.com is a good one with lots of youtube videos. Thanks!

Great addition. I love the detail work. Any resources you suggest for "do-it-yourselfers" (other than this site of course!). Congrats!
