Add Beam Support

Project Summary

This project is about lifting and supporting the sagging main beam in a crawl space under an older home. The floors at one end of the house were sloping towards the center and also downward to a point about six feet from the end of the house (a low spot). A tight string from the outside walls across the area showed it to be an inch low. Inspecting the area from underneath showed the main beam had developed a crack and was sagging. It needed to be raised back to level and supported. Having no experience with a project like this I posted to one of the forums asking if it was a DIY project and seeking advice.
