Project Summary

Since moving into our house, we felt that visitors didn't receive much clarity in regards to actually entering the house: The front entrance was hidden behind a bank of shrubbery and the front door was all but obscured.

As we considered various approaches to better articulating the front entry, we began envisioning ways to make the entry more welcoming and also began exploring ways to make our front yard more useful.

We arrived at a plan involving the addition of architectural detail to the entire facade and enclosing the front yard in a picket fence. Interestingly we defined a new private space (the yard) and a new public space (the entry and front porch). We are thrilled with the results!
