New Basement Ceiling

Project Summary

I needed to design a drop ceiling for my basement but wasn't keen on the idea of a traditional drop ceiling with thin tracks. I thought it looked too commercial. So I found a variety of MDF tiles at Rona Warehouse and decided to make my own tracks with MDF, primed and spray painted as well, and suspended them with "L" brackets attached to 2 x 3s. Although it took a half day just to measure and calculate, it was worth it. The extra layer around the perimeter and the crown molding gave more depth.
