Making new doors for a trash can shred
Hi.
We have an old 'trash can shred' or whatever you call it on the side of the driveway that was custom built by a previous owner and is beginning to get flimsy and such. It's got a door that you open on the front to get to the trash, but it's only on one half of the shed and so putting trash into the other can is kind of a pain.
Anyways, I have an idea to make 2 doors maybe 3/4 or whatever so that I can just load trash into the plastic trash bins without having to open the door every time and then use the doors when it's time to bring the bin to the curbside on trash day.
What is the standard planks that I can use to make the door? I'm thinking of using planks of some type of wood and then some 2x4's for the 'frame' connected with some of those metal things that secure the wood together.
Sorry for my technical ignorance, I don't know what the standard terms for all those parts are. Are the 2x4's called stiles maybe?

Consider using an exterior grade plywood for the doors. You can paint or stain the plywood. Depending on the door sizes and framing you could go as thin as 1/2" plywood to keep the weight low. Can you post a picture of what the shed looks like now?

If you use lap joints at the corners of the frame, no right angle brackets will be needed.
