I want to make boxes, about 8" length, width, and height, from herringbone weave seagrass matting or something about as cheap (solid-weave cane seems to be too expensive and the seagrass is only $20 for 4' X 8' sheet), and I want to color them black. I think they would go well with shelves that I build, but I don't want to weave the entire box so I found a source for the pre-woven matting. Any tips or links or book suggestions or anything?
