What do you think my old truck is worth in the condition its in?

Here we go!! 1979 Chevy 350ci 400 turbo transmission. Engine was rebuilt in Medford with Team Engine Pro Racing by Keith Shulz in 2003.
It has on average of 13,000 miles and drives like a boss. Total parts and labor come out to $3,303.02. It also comes with a stack of paper work that show all maintenance with heavy duty breaks and other maintenance.

It does need some body work if you zoom in one the right rear of the truck you can see I started some slight body patches. I have in storage hedman headers and dual flowmasters with cross over in used condition that will be going with the truck.

Really no way for us to place a price on this. Different areas of the country have different demands. No matter how much you put in the truck, I doubt you would recover it, although it may run like a sewing machine. I'd look in Auto Trader or other truck sales magazines or online to see what others like it are selling for

All prices are imaginary until the sale actually takes place. That fact that you spent over $3,000 only means that you spent that much money. Why are you selling it?

On a 1979 truck you may have trouble recouping your investment. You need to find a buyer that can appreciate the rebuild.

I was looking online at a few west coast used truck places and the trucks seem to run between 5k and 7k. That would seem high here as a truck of that age would be pretty well rusted underneath. That is probably different on the west coast especially if there is no or very little road salt used.

I'm selling because I never use it and its a huge beast. We need another little grocery getter.
I was thinking a fair price would be $1000-$1200. Is that fair or reasonable?

So ask for $2000 negotiable. When they realize it's in great mechanical shape with the extra stuff (if they want it) they'll prob offer $1200 and you dicker from there to $1500. They think they got a deal, and you know you did.

I've seen trucks worse than that with a ton of miles go for $2000-$2500 here in my little town. These guys like their trucks.

I agree your proposed asking price is fair [maybe low] As the others have said you need to check your local ads and go from there as prices can vary greatly based on locale. Locally it's amazing how much truck prices jump from one side of the mountain to the other. While fuel prices is low is one of the better times to sell a vehicle that isn't all that economical
