Streaming Video
I am using a wireless router and a Roku box to view movies on my tv.
How can I view streaming video on my tv which now is only visible on my computer monitor?

Use a video card in your computer that has outputs compatible your TV. For example if yours is an older TV with only composite video inputs (RCA jacks) then look for a video card with composite video outputs.
I'm right except when I'm wrong.

Video Cards
Does this mean I will need a wired connection from my PC to my tv?

Connections
Thank you, Ray. I was hoping to come up with a way to have a wireless connection. Thanks.

No expert...but there are ways to do it. $100 for a standalone system that can handle up to 3 TVs....or you can use your router but you'd need something like an XBox...not sure if a Roku will work.

All the roku boxes are wireless.
What exactly are you trying to do? You first post does not really say exactly.

I'm guessing he wants to stream video from the internet or saved files on his PC to his TV. From what I can tell Roku doesn't work that way.

Task at Hand
I can access various streaming video from the internet with my desktop and view on my desktop monitor. I would like to be able to send this streaming video to my tv by wireless connection.
One example is the NBC network. I have dropped tv cable and am using an antenna. The antenna I have will not pick up NBC. I hope this better explains my situation.

Do you want simple or cheap? How far away from the TV is the PC? Does your TV have an extra HDMI input?

Input
The PC and tv are in the same room approx. 15 ft apart. The tv has an available HDMI input. I am trying to avoid running a cable across the room. To do so would be a tripping hazard and would be against the Boss's orders. Any ideas?

Instead of me trying (badly) to explain it....just do a search for "streaming video to a TV from a PC" or similar. There are devices you can plug in your USB port on the PC and connect to your TV that seem to work very well.

I think I found what you are looking for since apparently your computer has an HDMI port and so does your tv and actually found many of these here is the link Newegg.com - wireless hdmi computer to tv . This will take you to a whole page of adapters. I don't think though in all honesty that you will be all that happy with any of these. I looked them over myself and wasn't too thrilled and Neweggs customers were not too thrilled either. I don't have an HDMI port on my laptop and wish I did but from what I saw of those I could probably even adapt this older laptop so I could make use of one of those adapters. Instead I opted to make a desktop and get one with HDMI built in. It is a bit noisy but we have the tv up a bit anyway and it isn't any noisier than a window air conditioning unit. So you could go my route or buy a used pre-built white box computer as it would probably have a better processor in it than a major manufacturers would. Even if it didn't have the right video card in it you could buy a good video card for it that would have HDMI for not much and then connect that to your tv.
Or just save yourself the money and buy a long HDMI cable you can get them in about any length just try to keep the length to less than 50 feet as the video signal degrades if you get anything longer. You could then buy a wireless keyboard and mouse to hook up on your laptop so you could control things remotely. If you do buy a wireless keyboard and mouse buy Logitech they are really the best brand. With a long cable from your laptop to your tv you can keep that hidden and keep the boss happy! You will also get better results than with a wireless extender. Good luck to you I hope you post back and let us know how you resolved this.

Internet into router, router both to your computer and your INTERNET READY DEVICE. This can be almost any newer Blu-Ray player, Roku box, or any of the game consoles. (Lt's say Blu-Ray)
Then Blu Ray to TV via HDMI and you have streaming of most things that can be streamed to the PC onto your TV. You pick from a menu right on the TV.
The connections from the router can be wired (ethernet) or wireless assuming both your router and your Internet Ready Device is wireless capable.
For good stuff you might want a subscription to Netflix ($7.99/mo) or some other content provider (HULU Plus?)
If you have fast enough internet and an HDTV you even get high definition. But you can do freebies like you-tube for free, natch.
