Furnace size with XL16i heat pump
I just replaced my old furnace with a Trane XL16i and a new furnace. The company quoted me an XV80i, 80000 BTUH furnace. It would provide 80,000x80%= 64,000btu when the heat pump turns off in the winter. However, the company actually installed an XV60i, which only gives 60,000x80%=48,000BTUH solely. The company tried to convince me that 48,000btuh is enought but I don't trust them anymore.
My house has two stories, 1950 square feet, built in 1893 with NO insulation in the walls of floor and very little in the attic. I also have a few big single pane windows (6'x6' or so).
My question is HOW MANY BTUHs do I really need to heat my house?
Thanks,

My answer is CALL A CONTRACTOR and have a load calulation done. WHich should have been done prior to any equipment changes.

heat loss
The company came back re-calculated the heat loss. It was about 30,600btuh. To me this # seems too small for a 1950 sqft old, no insulation with big singal pane windows.
I had a quote from Sears before this company. It was 50,000btu and this # seems reasonable to me.
