Adding additional receptacle
I'm trying to add additional receptacles from another receptacle. What is the difference between using wirenut on both the hot wire and the black wire that will to go to the additional receptacle and then connect it to the hot on the receptacle versus connect the black wire that goes to the additional receptacle to the load?

Electrically it is the same. Either will work. Some prefer the wire nuts, since you do not have to connect two wires to the device. Some will also say it is that on will not affect the other.
In Canada , the wire nuts count towards box fill.

Thanks for the response. Okay, my next question is, how many receptacles can I extend from one receptacle?

The electric code in the US does not place a limit on the number. Good design will look at the expected loads. If they are just for convenience I would not worry.
Certain circuits like kitchen SABC, laundry and bathroom receptacles are limited to only serving certain areas.
