GE Concord 4 Dialer Delay
Hi all,
Trying to understand this....I'm comparing two systems (mine and my neighbors).
On both of our systems we have a Dialer Delay option that is typically set at 15 seconds (and 15 sec. increments)
On my system, I have the ability to turn off "dialer delay", he does not.
Is there anyway that he can turn his dialer delay off? Right now, if he sets off his alarm, and disarms it within 15 seconds, no call goes out. Since mine is disabled, I get a call from the central station each time. He wants what I have...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your post is titled "GE Concord 4 Dialer Delay", but you don't specify that _both_ of you have the that control panel.
Then you you say in your post, "I have the ability to turn off "dialer delay", he does not." (Of course, if he couldn't turn it off, it wouldn't be an option; and I don't know of a control that makes a dialer delay mandatory.
So I'm compelled to the conclusion that he has a different protocol to disable the delay than you do, ergo a different control panel? Now am I off the mark here, or does he have a different make and model C/P?

I'm assuming that we do have different models, but the same alarm company installer. My alarm was installed 5 years ago, and his was just installed a few months back. I assume they are similar, but may be different versions of the Concord 4?
I've been able to log into both machines, and the options are definitely different. We both have the dial delay option, but in addition to that, I have an another option that can disable the delay.
The thing that stinks is that with the dial delay, if he turns off his alarm within the 15 seconds, then the central monitoring station doesn't see any report at all.
With mine, alarm goes off, and the call to the CM station goes out immediately.
So my question is more along the lines....is there any way that he can disable or work around his dial delay "feature"? Based on the manual I have, there doesn't seem to be way.
Also, when he talked with our alarm company, they mentioned something about this now being standard on all of their alarms "to help prevent" false alarms. So again...not sure if there is some workaround, but if there is, I would like to know what it is.
Thanks for your response! Hope this clears things up!

Concord 4...no way around the dialer delay. It's a CP-01 false alarm mandated setting..
Previous versions of Concord you could turn off dialer delay...

Thanks for clearing that up, GEGUY. I'm out of date on any new GE stuff. So is the manual I looked at on the web.

Nevermind think I found it:
FARA Resolution Endorsing CP-01 Control Panel Standard June 2007 Page 1 of 1
Resolution of the False Alarm Reduction Association
Regarding ANSI-SIA CP-01 Control Panel Standard Objective: To express FARA’s full support for all alarm dealers to install ANSI-SIA CP-01 Control Panel Standard (CP-01 Standard) compliant panels in new installations and to urge municipalities and counties to require alarm dealers to install ANSI-SIA CP-01 Control Panel Standard (CP-01 Standard) compliant panels in new installations. Explanation: The CP-01 Standard was created to address the fact that most false alarms caused by user errors occur during entry to, and exit from, alarm sites. Common scenarios addressed by the standard include:
User Arms - Exits - Re-enters…
User Arms - Fails to Exit in time…
User Arms - Building still occupied…
User Arms - Exits through Wrong Door…
User Arms - Fails to exit at all...
User enters - forgets code…
User enters - fails to disarm within delay time…
User enters - unfamiliar with system...
User enters - through the wrong door…
Industry committees concluded that false alarms caused by these common occurrences can be significantly reduced by changing panel features and programming to conform to the CP-01 Standard. Control panels that comply with the CP-01 Standard come programmed from the factory to default settings that will result in the maximum reduction of false alarms.
