Cutting Chain Link Fence

Forgot to tell the guys to leave it an inch above the ground so I could put some rubber belting under it to eliminate grass trimming, my fault.

I have one of these, Stanley 9-1/2-Inch MaxSteel Linesman Pliers, will that work or will I ruin them and my arm?

I don't know the gauge fencing but it is vinyl coated and about 70' long.

Thanks

I think I'd spray weedkiller at the base of the fence before I'd cut it.

If it were me I would raise the fabric since it's only an inch your looking for. If it has pipe top rails it shouldn't be too difficult. Don't think I would be cutting it either.

It does have the pipe top rail, I'll have to go look how to do that. This fence is just for my dog to do his thing.

I wasn't going to mention this cause people will think I really am crazy but I'm now thinking of buying 1x5-1/2" PVC trim board, paint it green and put that under the fence.

4" of snow tonight so plenty of time to think about it.

Except at the end posts the fencing is just secured to the posts/rails with aluminum wire. Raising it shouldn't be a big deal but you'd probably need to restretch it in the process.

I used to dis-assemble that kind of UV Rated chain-link fencing by un-weaving one strand of the wire and removing it . . . . I would then re-weave a strand back into the two ends to create one continuous circle, which would serve as a self-standing and well aerated compost bins.

Perhaps you can find enough slack to do something similar without resorting to cutting the wire

You also might consider pouring a 6" or 8" mow strip under the mesh if that is something that would be possible for you. Neat, clean, permanent and the answer to the weed issue.
