how do i whitewash my furniture?

i want to whitewash my bedroom furniture.it is a real light pine wood.i wood like to have a basecoat on it and then whitewash it so that a little of the basecoat color shines through.how do i do this?????????

paint your background color and let dry fully. Now take the white paint (same latex type) and dip a balled up rag into the paint. Apply to your piece by rubbing it on to the furniture almost taking it back off. If you don't have enough paint in any area just go back over it again there. It dries very quickly. Have fun!
