Beginning Woodworker.... Spray Stations?
I am just getting into woodworking and will start with a small book shelf. Looking to paint it and heard about spray stations from Earlex. Anyone have any thoughts, recommendations?

Welcome to the forums Rob!
Which one are you thinking about buying? HVLP systems work ok but they usually need the coating to be thinned a good bit. Most spray oil base coatings better than latex.retired painter/contractor

I've not used any Earlex products in fact I've never used a true HVLP which uses a turbine for power. I have used the HVLP conversion systems [use an air compressor] a lot.
Airless sprayers are capable of spraying thicker coatings at fast rate. Most cup guns [run off of air compressor] spray a thin coating and produce a lot of overspray. HVLP conversion guns are similar to cup guns but produce less overspray. HVLPs can only spray thin coatings and are the slowest of all spray systems. They can produce a very fine spray for small items.retired painter/contractor

Thanks..... I had posted on FB too and one guy sent me the link two these two videos. I have to say - the sprayer looks fairly easy to use and the feedback and review is positive on all fronts. I think I may look into getting a 5500 now that I have actually seen someone use them successfully.

I know I about drove everyone crazy asking questions. But if anyone is looking to buy a sprayer, I can highly recommend the Earlex HVLP 5500. I did a lot of (and I mean ALOT) research and comparing as you all could probably figure out and finally bought one this past week. I am still getting used to spraying (adjusting the flow) on scrap boards but I love it! Two thumbs up from my end!
