    Welcome to the forums! Are you building a permanent stand? Nothing out of wood will be very portable, so you need to make sure your location is pristine. I have never hunted over the same ground more than once in a season, so building such a stand may be counterproductive. "Free"? doubtful, but you may look through hunting catalogs and magazines for design ideas.
