Another strange bug

So these new to me bugs all want to land on me, lol!

Today, I brought this one in the house with me. Felt something crawling on my neck and when I brushed it off, this is what I found! This one looked closer to 2 inches long!

Sorry, image inserting isn't working again so I had to upload them to a hosting site.

Hard to say without a better closeup and side view. My guess would be that it's a black slip wasp.

I thought it looked like some sort of wasp. I was afraid to get too close to it, to get a better pic!
Guess I'm lucky it didn't sting me.

Well is the first tergite box-like with the spiracle anterior to the middle? That would help identify it as part of the Pimpla genus of the parasitic wasp family Ichneumonidae.

Don't ask me what either of those mean, I just stole it from Wiki.

Actually, I pretty sure most of those type are harmless to humans and anything larger than a bee larvae or maggot. Most of them are beneficial in some way or other IIRC. Either to cut down nuisance bugs or as pollinators.

Sorry but I never saw this post until I logged in today; seems to have happened with others, too.

I too believe it is a parasitic wasp. Probably can’t hurt us. They are generally beneficial.

Thanks PA! Guess it looks scarier than it is! Scared the heck out of me when I first saw it, lol.
