flood lighting dilema
When my garage was built, I had 2 floodlights installed, both working off the sensor of one of them. The "front" one with the sensor is on the front corner of the house, and the other one is above the garage door up towards the apex of the roof.
After we had moved in, we decided we wanted the floodlight over the garage door to turn on when the garage door opened to give us light outside the garage door immediately, so I rewired that floodlight with a heith/zenith floodlight base with a battery powered remote sensor that is installed near the door. This setup works great, for 1-2 years before the battery powered remote FAILS. I have gone thru 3 of those remotes now and at ~$25 a pop its gottee too expensive.
I've looked thru the floodlights available on lowes/home depot, but I don't really see anything that looks like a good solution. I'd like to hard wire a new flood light down near the door (to stop using battery powered remotes), but it would take quite a bit of work to route power there.
There isn't any explicit hookup for my older craftsman door opener to hook it up to an outside light.
Wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

What about using a relay from the opener light to switch the power on/off at the flood. When you open the door, the light should come on and then go out when the opener timer shuts off the opener light.
