2007 tahoe rear hatch closing by itself

rear hatch will open, goes about 3/4 up, jerk, and then come down on its own.

Any help appreciated.

thanks

Not sure if you have an automatic opening hatch or not. If it is not an automatic opening hatch, then it sounds like the struts may be bad. It sounds like they lose pressure when you hit that point where it "jerks" and then they collapse. probably $35-$45 for the set. web search for "2007 tahoe lift struts" but make sure you get the ones for the door/hatch and not for the glass (unless you need those too).

Struts was my first thought also. I've seen them priced from $10 - $60 each. I believe the price increases with the length of the strut. Most parts store stock them. Fairly easy to replace.
