2000 Chrysler Town and Country Van starts intermittently
Good Morning from the East Coast!
My 2000 Chrysler Town and Country Van sometimes won't start after setting for a week or more. When you try to start it acts like it wants to start but won't. Once it finally starts after sometimes many tries it runs fine. After you get it started it runs fine and starts fine until you leave it setting again. I don't know what it means but I have 133,000 miles on it with no trouble but now the check engine icon is on and my air back sensor light (red) comes and goes. It is on more in hot weather than cold. I am a shade tree mechanic but I would like to know where to start with this starting problem.
Thanks for any help!

Get the trouble codes scanned at a car parts place (most do it for free anymore).
How old is battery? Battery connections sound?
Old plugs?

Agree with Bob, get a code read; the codes aren't always helpful, but they at least give you a starting point.
Measure it with a micrometer; cut it with an ax.

hoppa, you need to describe what exactly is it:
When you try to start it acts like it wants to start but won't.

I agree with getting codes checked out. In meantime, when vehicle has been sitting for some time as described try this. When you get in turn key only to on, not start, and listen for fuel pump to prime. (short hum or buzz from rear area) Do this 3 or 4 times, then try to start and see if it starts better, and let us know.
