what would cause the hot and cold to run on cold in the hot position? if I turn the dial to cold and back to hot then it comes out warm or sometimes hot would this be the pressure cap? any idea's are welcome thanks for the input in advance.

Welcome to the forums! Is it a Cummins or gasser? Diesel's take forever to heat up, so I just want to include or exclude that. I drive a Cummins, 2001, but don't have that problem. I have a shop manual that may help once I find out your engine.

It's a cummings 24 valve 5.9 thanks, I can have heat within a couple of miles on defrost but for the floor yeah awhile but the knob for the cold and heat seems to be giving me trouble if I turn it to cold when its blowing cool then to hot then it kicks in must be a valve or something for this idk. let me know what you find.

Yeah it could be the heat module on the engine side, hopefully as replacing the knob assembly could be a bear. Now, on the diesel the blend doors are operated via the vacuum pump just in front of the power steering pump. Check to see that the little hose is attached to it and trace it up to the firewall to make sure there are no holes in it or that it hasn't pulled loose from a connection. Since you are getting heat to the windshield, I suspect the vacuum has been compromised. I use the defrost/floor setting mostly to keep the windshield clear and to warm up the floor. Just turned 400,000 miles a few weeks ago. My thumbdrive with the manual is in the shop, so I'll pick it up in the morning and see what I can find out for you.
