help needed with toilet modle Mansfield No 160
My toilet isn't working. At first the cup closure had such a good seal to it, the flush handle wouldn't lift it. I replaced the flush vale seal. This seal is flat and now the toilet leaks because there isn't a seal from the cup closure. What can I do?

Welcome to the forums! Did you replace the entire column or just the rubber ring at the bottom? How much water is in your tank? It should be about an inch below the rim of the overflow tube. You say the toilet leaks, I am assuming the tank leaks into the bowl due to inferior seal, correct? How long ago did you replace the seal?

On the Mansfield 160 the flush valve seal must be able to spin freely in the narrow guide at the base of that flush tower.
If you bought that seal from a big box store or Ace Hardware, most likely the seal is not spec'd to OEM standard and will not work.
The rule is to use only mansfield products, not products made for mansfield.
The reason it is hard to flush is because the seal was concave, creating a suction to the base of the flush tower.
