Entire Floor Hardwood Installation

Hey all,

First time DIYer here. I'm about to become a home owner and will be conducting some renovations. One of the items we'll be tackling is placing hardwood on the entire main floor. Just wanted to get some opinions as to where I should start. I've attached a diagram showing the floorplan. I'm assuming the joists run left to right, in which case I will lay the flooring front to back. Just wanted to get people's opinions on where I should start? I plan on hardwood even in the kitchen itself, and I am assuming a more professional look is to not have transfer pieces between rooms.

The transitions help to isolate the rooms as well as give them a break from every other room. That's been my method over the last few homes and absolutely nobody has even noticed.

Other wise, I would say down the main hallway would be the starting point.

Welcome to the forums! Do you really want wood in the bathrooms and kitchen? Do you want the redundancy of the flooring in all the rooms? I know it is the chic thing to do, but as far as design and practicality goes I would entertain tile in the baths and possibly the kitchen. Water and wood don't last long together.

Yes, I guess I should have noted that the bathroom will be tiled, but the kitchen will be be hardwood. Also the wall between the breakfest room and living room will be removed.
