Hardwood floor dent repair
We have relatively new hardwood floors (oak). We've already accumulated some deep dents from heavy things being dropped. I have researched and thought of two potential solutions, but I am not sure which is best.
One idea is to scrape off the finish on the damaged section, then press a hot iron on a wet cloth into the dent to try to raise it. However, I would then need to refinish that section, and I don't know what type of finish was used originally. Would I just apply some clear Minwax with a small paint brush and hope I pick the correct one (gloss, semi gloss, etc.)?
Alternatively, I could just try to carefully fill the dents with clear epoxy. That would avoid having to try to pick the correct finish.
Not sure what is the best option here.

Are the bad enough to need attention? I know you know where they are but is it something anyone will easily notice? IMO they are generally just left alone. I'd be leery of filling the indentations.

We bought a house in CA once and right in front of the refrigerator was a dent in the wood from some type of jar, you could read the letters!!
Stood out at first but after some time it became invisible to us!
