Ceiling heat help
I have ceiling heat & one section of the downstairs is not working. From what I gather is it's usually a thermostat or a broken wire. I changed the wall thermostat & nothing. Well yesterday I was in a downstairs closet & noticed a big what I found to be a thermostat. It's hotter than a two dollar pistol ( 102 degrees when I shot it with my digital heat gun) should this be that hot?

Welcome to the forums.
That is a 24v transformer/relay combination. If generates a low voltage supply so that you can use any low voltage relay and it's internal relay switches the heater on.
It should not run that hot.
I would recommend replacing it with a newer style Honeywell unit. Low current consumption and runs much cooler.
Honeywell RC840T-240/U transformer/relay combo control.
