Wiring for Honeywell RTH6400D1000
I have an Honeywell RTH6400D1000 thermostat lying around that I'd like to use to replace the contractor-installed thermostat. The system it's controlling is a heat pump, the condenser outside, the blower and aux heat inside. It's all electric.
Here is the current wiring of the contractor-installed thermostat
From left to right, the labels are: L C W2 R G Y O/B
The Honeywell requires these connections:
I understand the BLUE wire will not be connected to the Honeywell. I'm a little confused about the WHITE wire and the ORANGE wire. The white wire is currently connected to W2 on the contractor thermostat. There is no W2 connector on the Honeywell. Does just the orange wire connect to the W O/B connector on the Honeywell?

The RTH6400D will not work in your application. You need a stat that has provisions for backup electric heat..... that stat does not. The stat is for a basic heat pump only.
