tiling over granite backsplash
I purchased a house with back wall of granite as the backsplash that goes from the countertop to the top of the kitchen cabinets. Pulling it out would be very hard unless I just start hammering at it to crack it and pull the peices off. I want to do a tile mosaic as the backsplash and wondered if I could just tile over the granite. Can this be done correctly? Also, has anyone used that peel and stick type tile application where you use it to stick the tile to the wall and then grout as normal?

Tearing out that backsplash would be difficult and would probably ruin the countertop with a scratch or two............
You could throw out the tile bible and tile over the granite, even using the peel and stick mosiacs for the ultimate in "Mickey Mouse" backsplashes..........
In my opinion, I'd take one for the team and live with the existing granite and wait for the day I could afford to remove the entire counter / splash and refurbish the way you like.
(PS: saw that peel and stick mosiac product at Lowes, remember everything always looks better / easier on a video!)
