GE super 35 water softner
After regeneration the water from the discharge hose continues a small stream. I don't know how to stop it.

There is a drain seal o ring under the cap that might be the problem. It is spring assisted so the spring may be at fault as well. It is very easy to fix.

Thank's for the advice, I will look for the cap and then try to repair.

The cap is held down by 8 bolts. You have to remove the motor and depressurize the unit before removing it.

thanks I did that. there is a small white piece of plastic with spring inside of it, also there is a funny looking spring around the shaft that I pulled apart. which one might be the issue. There is a o ring around that part is that the one I should replace ?

Yes. The small o ring is the drain seal. Sometimes the plastic piece will get stuck in the down position which will cause a lot of water to the drain. A small trickle would be the o ring IMO.

biermench, I replaced the small spring and the piece of plastic that was outside of it, replaced the wave washer and the o ring with it. I still have a trickle of water from the discharge hose. what do you think? charliel36@centurylink.net

The only other thing that would cause the drip would be the rotor. It may have a scratch or the shaft has been twisted. Did you used any silcone lube?

Biermench, no where should I use the silcon lube, or should I?
-

It comes with the rotor seal. I always lube the rotor. I've seen, over time, the rotor have a lot of resistance to where it twists the rotor shaft. Some have even broken. Get the unit in service. If it leaks, disconnect the motor and turn the cam very slowly to see how much you have to turn it to stop. A little would tell me the shaft has been twisted. A lot would say the rotor surface is scratched.

Lawrosa, That vido is very close to the internal parts that mine is. mine does not have a o ring on top of the white plug , and there is only one o ring above the shaft.and only one gasketon the inside. Do the parts come as a whole repair packet, kit?

It it looks like an O ring belongs on that white plug then yours may have fell apart and traveled in the tank. You valve should be the same.
You should have two o rings on that shaft. Thats the rotor disk. Look on the underside, is it scratched?
All the parts you need can be ordered from the link under the video.
When the head comes off there is a small O ring #3 on page 27 here that often dislodges. But that only cause the water to bypass the softner slightly and give hard water during normal operation.

In all the GE manuals I see two o rings on the shaft. You may have lost it or its stuck on the underside of the cover plate.
As far as I know GE and sears still use the same design.
What is the actuall model # of your unit? Should be on a plate in the salt tank.

Mke, the model # is GNSF35Z01. I will put o rings in the two places you suggest. The white plug does look like there should be an o ring there.

Charliel, You say your valve does not have an o-ring on the white plug? Are you talking about the plug in the center of the valve? If so, that is the drain valve and I can see why it would leak.

The reason that Sears & GE have the same design is that EcoWater in St Paul Mn makes the product.

Biermench thanks, yep you are right I'm going to order the seal kit #1 kit 130 from the GE manual and see if that will fix the issue. Larosa, helped me when he told me that there should be a o ring there. You told me about a small oring inside but I could not find one . My mistake.

Page 29 shows all the parts you need.

I believe this is the seal kit but you will need to verify through the manuals.
Softenerparts.com Seal Kit Sears, GE, NorthStar 7129716,7092163,7134224,WS35X10005
New disk that you probably should get.
Softenerparts.com Rotor Disc Sears, GE, NorthStar 7199232, 7103964, WS26X10002
Also should rebuild the venturi.
Softenerparts.com Nozzle Venturi with Gasket - Sears, North Star, GE WS08X10005
or get whole new one.
Softenerparts.com Venturi Nozzle Assembly 7139541 - 7085239
Thats pretty much it but you will need to do this yourself. Lets say parts are about $124 bucks. That is cheaper then a new unit.
A new unit I believe like the one you have shows $397.
30,000-Grain Water Softener System-GXSF30H at The Home Depot
Your call. Possibly you can find a local guy that will install the parts for you if you dont feel confident. Not sure how old your unit is. Might only need the o rings. But why are they missing?????
Note: I did not cross reference those parts for your unit. You need to check and match them up. I only posted the links above for reference and comparison.

Larosa, I'm going to order the O- ring kit trying that first . I think the missing O ring on top of the drain is a likley suspect. I will post again when I have done the task. Thanks. charliel36@centurylink.net

Yes. I have a valve that is only a month old. I don't think it's that same. EcoWater makes 2 valves. The regular one and a bigger one for higher flow rates. I believe he has the bigger valve.
