Brass gate valve

Hi all
There is a 3/4" brass, soldered in gate valve in my cold water pipe
coming from the well. It is there in case of a need to bypass the iron filters.
It is leaking around the body of the valve somewhere and corroded badly.
Can these valves be repaired without de-soldering the valve? Some kind of repair kit maybe?

Usually, there is a packing gland nut right under the handle. Most of the time, tightening the nut will stop the leak, but it may not. Loosen it up and the innards come out connected to the handle. Hardware stores usually have rebuilding kits or just buy a new valve that that can be used as donor. Make sure you take the innards to the store to compare.

If a hole has corroded through the body, you are done. Try to patch it or something.

That picture is just like the valve that I have (except soldered).
What's the best way to clean the white powdery corrosion so that I could find the leak?

Try some white vinegar and a small wire brush (brass or stainless if you have it) to clean the corrosion off.

Thanks Vey. I cleaned it off and bought a replacement valve for parts. Was a different brand
but looked the same. Perhaps some of the seals will fit. I doubt I could unsolder the old valve and replace.
It has a "TEE" soldered right up flush to each end of the valve. Even if I heat up the old solder,
there's no room to pull the pipes apart.

I'm wondering if you could find a plug to put in the top and just abandon it.

Except for the packing gate valves can not be repaired.
They depend on precisely machined and matched surfaces to provide a seal.

I have a fair idea what your bypass looks like.
It is common to close couple the fittings to make the assembly look better and in some cases because of space.
You would do well to step back and look at the whole assembly to consider replacing all of it.
