3 Flowering Purple Ground Cover Ideas

Purple ground cover can add a beautiful touch to any landscaped area. Here are a few ideas for purple ground covering.

Creeping Phlox

Creeping Phlox can add a strong statement to any landscaped area. The flowers produced in spring will be massed in small clusters. The flowers can range from blue to lavender and purple, and can also be found in reds, whites, pinks, and variations of all. Creeping phlox do best in full sun and rich soil that is well drained.

Cranesbill Geranium

Cranesbill is very hardy geranium. They have a wonderful bright purplish blue flower, and the flowers will last for several months through the year. They will also sprawl slightly, making them a great ground covering. The Cranesbill  is also relatively low maintenance, making it a great choice for the occasional gardener.

New York Aster

The New York Aster, or Michaelmas Daisy, is another great option for ground cover. It is a great choice for steep slopes because it can help with erosion. The flowers are a lilac color with a bluish tinge. They tend to grow slightly taller than other ground covering, which is what makes them so good for slopes.
