3 Laptop Cooling Techniques
Laptop cooling is necessary because when you operate a computer because its CPU or central processing unit along with its other parts generate heat. This is cause by the consumption of energy which is necessary to make your laptop work. Cooling is essential since the more heat is generated by the laptop; the greater is the chance that it will malfunction. Because of the slim design of computer laptops, it is not possible to install a cooling system inside the device. Hence, you have to use other methods to keep it from generating too much heat.
1. Commercial Laptop Coolers
One way to make sure that your laptop will not overheat is to get a laptop cooler from your electronics supplier. The cooler is typically incorporated with a bay where you can sit your computer on. There is a space that is provided between the laptop and the surface you have rested it on thus allowing heat to disperse more quickly. Many of the laptop cooler models in the market are installed with a fan which is used for blowing hot air away from beneath the computer. This circulates the air below the computer unit which further enhances the cooling off effect.
2. Home Improvements
If you do not want to buy a commercial laptop cooler or you do not have a budget for it, you can also recreate the cooling effect with items that you can find around your home. But first, you must have something that will allow you to sit your laptop about 1/2 inch from the desk or table you are working on. Thick coasters can be used each corner of the laptop or any similar items that will provide a stable base for your computer. You can get a small electric fan and allow it to blow underneath the laptop. If there is an air conditioner operating on your house, you can place your laptop underneath the central cooling duct. If it is a window type air conditioner, you can work right next to it. If it is possible, work with the laptop plugged directly into a power wall socket. This will prevent the battery from generating heat every time the laptop takes its power from it.
3. Personal Habits
Though you may not realize it, the way you use your laptop can determine how much heat is generated by the device. Changing the way you use your computer can be your easiest and most effective technique of keeping the generated heat down. The more the laptop RAM, processor and other parts are pushed, the more heat they will produce. To avoid pushing your system too hard, avoid running several programs at the same time. You should avoid multitasking particularly if a processor intensive program such as computer games and video encoding are running. If you want to play a computer game, try decreasing the graphics quality to reduce the heat that is generated by the graphics card. Using your laptop outdoors and under the heat of the day will also increase the heat generated by the computer. If you have to use your laptop outside, find a shaded spot to keep your computer operating at safe temperatures.
