3 Secrets To Cleaning Ceiling Lamp Glass

People often overlook cleaning ceiling lamp glass when doing their usual household chores. Because ceiling lamps are above us, we either forget or avoid cleaning the overhead fixtures. Here are some helpful approaches to clean your ceiling lamp glass.

Materials and Tools Needed:

•    Soft rag
•    Lint free rag
•    Mild dish soap
•    Glass cleaner
•    Cleaning pads

Step 1-Preliminary Cleaning: Glass Cleaner

First, clean your ceiling lamp glass with a spray-on glass cleaner. Let the cleaner set for 45 seconds to a minute, then wipe it off gently with a soft rag. After you have wiped it off, go over the lamp with a lint free rag. It is important to use a lint free rag to prevent leaving behind particles.

Step 2-Soak The Ceiling Lamp Glass

If your glass is still dirty, you will need to soak the glass. Fill up your sink, a bucket or other water holding container with warm water. Make sure not to fill the container too high because the water gets displaced when you put in the glass fixture.

Add about ¼ cup dish washing liquid. Let the glass soak for about 30 minutes then wipe off the grime. If it is still not budging, let it soak another 15 minutes and try again. Once it's clean, dry it with the lint free cloth.

Step 3-Getting Cleaned Packed On Dirt

If your ceiling lamp is extremely dirty, soak the fixture as described in step two, but wipe it off with a cleaning pad. Most cleaning pads you can buy from a grocery or home improvement store have two sides. The white side is a soft sponge like material and the blue side is slightly abrasive. Do not use the blue, abrasive side on the glass. Even the slightest bit of abrasive contact can scratch and damage glass. Instead, use the white side. After you're done, wipe it dry with a lint free cloth.

Utilizing these steps will clean your ceiling lamp glass with minimal effort and materials.
