3 Tips for Cleaning Burner Grates

With the regular use of a stove, deposits will develop on the burner grates which can be dangerous as well as unsightly. By utilizing a few tips during the cleaning process, you can ensure that your burners remain fit for use.

1 – Soak

Where the burner grates have been affected by stubborn dirt, it is worthwhile to removing them for soaking. Fill the sink or a basin with hot soapy water, place the grates into it, and leave it for at least half an hour. This will help to loosen any dirt to make cleaning easier.

2 – Cleaner

There are a range of cleaning solutions available on the market which are suitable for use on burner grates. Apply the solution to a cloth before using it to wipe the entire surface clean, follow this by rinsing the grates with water. If you prefer a natural cleaner, use a solution of white vinegar and baking soda.  

3 – Scrubbing

In some cases, a scrubbing brush can be used to clean the burner grates without any cleaning solution being required. Natural or nylon bristles will be beneficial for this method. However, a wire brush can also be used. Take care not to damage the surface when using the latter.
