3 Truck Tire Repair Tools for Fixing Tires

by DoItYourself Staff

Truck tire repair tools can help you fix a tire enough to get you back on the road and over to a professional mechanic who can make a permanent adjustment.

Tire Sealant

With a large bottle of tire sealant, you can seal up a hole in your tire quickly, without having to wait for a tow trunk. Simply follow the package directions: point the nozzle in the hole, and fill up the hole with sealant.

Tire Repair Gun

For larger tire problems, use a tire repair gun to help you plug the hole. This gun, once loaded, pushes a rubber plug in the tire to prevent damage to the inner tubing. Once the plug is in place, trim away any excess material from the outside edges.

Tire Pressure Gauge

To ensure the tire is filled to the proper pressure after the sealant or plug has been inserted, use a tire pressure gauge. This will allow you to see whether your fixes are working or if you need to try again.

With these three tire repair tools, you can fix your tires when you're out on the road by yourself. Sometimes a mechanic isn't available, and you need to be prepared to step in to do the job.
