3 Unusual Gifts You Can Make at Home
Nothing is more fun than giving someone unusual gifts made by yourself. Anyone can buy unusual gifts but making them at home will show your friend or family member that you care and took the time. It will also give them a warm feeling that you took the time. Making unusual gifts is simply a matter of getting the creative juices flowing. The article below will provide several ideas you can use or improve upon to make your own inspired unusual gifts.
1 - Smiling Tissue Dispenser
This is a very fun project and takes no time at all to do. You will need access to a printer and photo paper. You will also need a picture of the person you are giving it to and hopefully they are smiling in the picture. You will need a pair of scissors, glue, box and a box of tissues. Paint the box in whatever fashion or design you like but leave the top alone. Print out the picture of the person and trim it so it fits on top of the box. Cut a hole in the top of the box around the mouth. Make it exaggerated. Open the box of tissues and remove them and place the stack in the new box. Draw up the first tissue and pull it through the mouth you made. The final result will be that it looks like a tongue.
2 - Backwoods Wind Chime
If you have a friend that is an avid outdoorsman or is in to country motifs, then a backwoods wind chime is a fun and unusual gift you can give. You will need empty beer cans that have been cleaned and dried, string, three hangers and a metal piercer. You can paint the beer cans if you want to but make sure you dent them up a bit as well. Pierce the bottom of each beer can and thread the string inside them. Once the string comes out the other side tie a knot. The cans will be hanging upside down. Tape the three hangers together and tie each can to the hanger. Vary the heights of the cans then you can simply place the hanger on a hook outside.
3 - Mood Magnets
The Internet culture and the use of emoticons have exploded on the consumer market. That is kind of the inspiration behind these unusual gifts. You will need a printer, glue, magnets, scissors and pictures. If you are giving the gift to a loved one or close friend then you can use pictures of you but if you can get pictures of them that is even better. Make sure you get close-ups of the face in various moods such as joy, anger, sadness and the like. Use your imagination. Scale the pictures to fit on the magnets and print them. Trim the pictures down and glue them to the non-magnetic side of the magnets. Now you, your friends or family can display their current mood by placing the magnet on a refrigerator or other metal surface.
