4 Common WiFi Connection Problems
WiFi connection is a wireless Internet connection that operates through a wireless router using radio waves. WiFi connections have many advantages, such as portability and a cheaper set up, among others, but they also come with some problems. Here are some of the most common.
1. Extending Your Signal Range
You can begin by placing your antenna as high as possible and clear of obstruction. Also, remember that liquid blocks like fish tanks or thick building material will reduce range, as will metal.
2. Automatically Connecting to Any Available Network
For this, you will need to adjust your settings by opening the control panel, then go to network connections and right click your current wireless network. Go to properties, wireless networks and select "Advanced". Click on any available network (access point preferred) and then select automatically connect to non preferred networks.
3. Electrical Interference
WiFi connections can be interrupted by devices such as wireless phones, alarm systems and microwave ovens. In case of poor connection, you should always turn off such devices.
4. Choosing the Right Channel
Most routers have 11 channels and will be set at channel 6 as the default. In case of interference from a neighboring network, change your channel on the basic wireless settings page.
