4 Types of Car Battery Chargers
Car battery chargers are an essential tool for car owners in the event of a sudden battery drain. Battery drain can be caused by a faulty battery or alternator. There are many types of charger to choose from.
1 - Series Regulator Battery Charger
The voltage is controlled by a pulse modulator and is deemed more efficient than a linear regulator battery charger. They are a more professional type of charger, so they should only be handled by people with sufficient knowledge of automobiles and batteries.
2 - Pulsed Battery Charger
These are the most common and popular types of battery charger. The series transistor conducts a current directly into the battery to restore power and give a full charge.
3 - Stunt Regulator Battery Charger
This is a very basic type of charger. Built-in alarms will prevent over-charging of the battery. A simple switch connecting with a photovoltaic panel conducts the charge until the battery is restored to full power. Photovoltaic chargers work using solar type energy from the sun and therefore are very reliable.
4 – Buck Regulator Charger
An extremely efficient type of battery charger. It can cope with high current output and at the same time, low RF interference.
