6 Important Electrical Conduit Mounting Tools

Working with electrical conduit can be very difficult at times. Electrical conduit is essential to provide protection to your home's wiring, without the armoring that conduit provides the electricity wires can become damaged, crushed and broken. You can make installing electrical conduit much easier if you prepare yourself and use the right tools.

There are many different tools which are useful when mounting electrical conduit in your house. By preparing and getting the right electrical tools you will be able to speed up the project of installing electrical conduit and also make the results last much longer. If you don't already have the right tools then spend time buying them now. This will save you having to rush out mid way through the project to buy new tools.

Drill

The drill is one of the most useful tools that's in your toolbox. The drill is used to drill fixing holes into the wall to secure the conduit and it can also be used to drill larger holes to slide the electrical conduit through. Choose a drill which has a hammer function so that it will be able to drill through solid brick and concrete walls.

Screwdriver

A screwdriver is another really useful tool because it can be used to secure the conduit onto the wall. It is also very useful when fixing electrical receptacles and doing other wiring jobs. All tool kits should have a variety of different screwdrivers. You will need straight screwdrivers, posi-drive screwdrivers and also electrical screwdrivers.

Having the right screwdriver for the job can make the project much easier and less hassle. Never try to use knives to undo screws because this is actually very dangerous.

Chisel

A chisel is another very important tool to use. Chisels are used to cut channels in your home's plaster. This will enable you to hide the electrical conduit so that it's not visible from outside the wall. A wood chisel is ideal because this allows you to cut through the drywall without causing any damage to the studs or brick wall.

Bending Tools

If you're working with thin wall electrical conduit or other rigid types of conduit then you will need to bend these into shape. Bending the conduit can be accomplished by using specialist bending tools. These keep the form of the hollow tube while allow the tube to bend.

Hacksaw

When working with thin wall electrical conduit or PVC conduit it will need to be cut into the right lengths. The easiest way of doing this will be to use a hacksaw. If, however, you are using flexible electrical conduit then you will need to use specialist cutting tools which can separate the flexible coils.

Fish Wire

A fish wire can be used to grab hold of wires and pull them through the electrical conduit. Without a fish wire you will find it very difficult to pull wires through the conduit. Every good toolkit needs to have a retractable fish wire.
