9 Tips for Cleaning Propane Stoves
Propane stoves are ideal for portable cooking. Like home stoves, they need to be cleaned on a regular basis to remove food residue and to keep the appliance working efficiently.
1 - Preparing Your Cleaning Solution
In order to clean your propane stove without causing scratches or any other damage, be sure to use a soft cleaning cloth and a soft drying towel. You will also need a pair of rubber gloves, dish detergent, warm water and a large pot for mixing the cleaning solution. In the large pot, combine ½ cup of dish detergent with ½ gallon of warm water.
2 - Disassembling the Propane Stove
Turn the burner knobs to the off position. Disconnect the propane tank from the regulator and remove it from the stove and carefully set it aside. Disconnect the regulator from the stove by unscrewing it and carefully set it aside. Remove the grate from the stove
3 - Washing the Grate
Put on your rubber gloves. Use the soft cleaning cloth to remove any dirt and dust from the stove. Immerse the soft cleaning cloth into the cleaning solution. Squeeze out any excess liquid. Wash the grate with the cleaning solution. If necessary, soak the grate in the solution for several minutes. Gently rub any grease or grime from the grate. Continue the process until the grate is clean. Empty the liquid from the pot. Rinse the pot and prepare a new batch of the cleaning solution.
4 - Washing the Burners
Gently scrub the burners on the propane stove with the soapy cloth until all of the grease and grime has been removed. If necessary, remove the burner and soak it in the cleaning solution for several minutes. Continue washing until the burners are clean. Allow the burners enough time to dry on their own. Empty the liquid from the pot. Rinse the pot and prepare a new batch of the cleaning solution.
5 - Washing the Inside of the Stove
Immerse the soft cleaning cloth into the cleaning solution. Squeeze out any excess liquid. Wipe out the drip pan under the burners and the sides of the stove by gently rubbing away any food residue. If necessary, soak the drip pan in the cleaning solution for several minutes. Continue the process until the drip pan and sides are clean. Empty the liquid from the pot. Rinse the pot and prepare a new batch of the cleaning solution.
6 - Washing the Outside of the Stove
Close the stove. Use the soft cloth to wipe any dirt or grime from the outside of the propane stove.
7 - Rinsing the Stove
Immerse the cleaning cloth in clear, warm water to rinse out any grime. Squeeze out any excess water. Use the cleaning cloth to the wipe all of the stove, removing any cleaning solution left on the appliance.
8 - Drying the Stove
Use a clean drying towel to dry the entire stove, including the grates, the burners and the drip pan.
9 - Reassembling the Stove
Place the grates back inside the propane stove. Reconnect the regulator to the propane stove. Reconnect the propane to the regulator and the stove.
