Add A Remote Doorbell Ringer For Your Basement

Those who have basements in their homes find it rather difficult to hear the doorbell ring from this underground level.  If this is the case, you may want to try out a remote doorbell ringer for your basement.

Track Down Your Cables

It may be a difficult process to have to track down the cables that run to your doorbell. Because of this, you might want to use a low-voltage transformer. The transformer for the upstairs doorbell should be attached to the electrical service panel within your home.

Start the Connecting

From there, you will want to connect your wires to the transformer, in order for them to connect to the chimes of the doorbell.  Connect a wire to the front and back, as well as the actual transformer. All three wires need to connect to the same terminals as the chime.

Add your Second Chime

You will want to add a second chime in your basement. That way you can hear when someone is at the front door. Depending on your transformer, you may only get a faint sound. This is due to the fact that the transformer might not be able to take 2 chimes at the same time.
