Chronic Pain? Omega-3 Can Help, Studies Show Statistically speaking, your chances of developing chronic pain from arthritis as you age are about one in four. Live past 65 and the likelihood climbs to 50 percent.

Just shy of one quarter of all Americans have been diagnosed by their doctors as having arthritis, according to the National Health Interview Survey published by the National Center for Health Statistics. The survey also indicates that about half of people older than 65 have the ailment. That's 46 million Americans looking for a way to relieve or prevent joint pain.

With recent headlines pointing to some popular pain relievers as the source of other serious health ailments, some arthritis sufferers may feel it's safer to just bear the pain. But a growing body of evidence suggests there's a safer, all-natural way to fight the inflammation, stiffness and discomfort associated with arthritis.

Studies show that Omega-3 fatty acids reduce the need for anti-inflammatory drugs, according to an analysis by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. University of Maryland Medical Center researchers also analyzed 17 clinical trials and concluded that "Omega-3 fatty acids are effective treatment, along with conventional therapies … for joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis."

"Omega-3 is an essential nutrient that our bodies cannot produce," says Roy Bingham, co-founder of NourishLife, makers of ultra-pure Omega-3 supplements. "It's only found in fish. Interestingly, Canadian researchers reported in the American Journal of Epidemiology that survey participants from Asian cultures - whose diets are rich in fish - showed lower incidences of arthritis than people of other ethnic backgrounds."

In fact, Bingham says, one of the main causes of joint inflammation is Omega-3 deficiency. "We know that as much as 99 percent of the American population doesn't get enough Omega-3 in their diets," he notes. "You don't have to be a scientist to see the link between our high rates of arthritis and nutritional deficiencies."

High-concentration Omega-3 supplements, like PharmaOmega Life, can help relieve the inflammation associated with joint pain and arthritis. Just three easy-to-swallow capsules a day deliver essential levels of Omega-3 without any side effects.
