Whether you're planning an intimate dinner party for family, a gathering for clients and colleagues, or a get-together with friends at a bar or restaurant, help make sure everyone has a fun and safe time this holiday season by planning ahead and being responsible. To help promote safe revelry among adults, Anheuser-Busch is driving home the message of personal responsibility this holiday season by encouraging the use of designated drivers.
In fact, using a designated driver is the norm, with nearly two out of three American adults having been a designated driver or been driven home by one, according to a 2008 survey conducted by TNS Custom Research on behalf of Anheuser-Busch. That's more than 137 million Americans! And an overwhelming majority of all adults surveyed - nine out of 10 - agreed that promoting the use of designated drivers is an excellent or good way to help reduce the problem of drunk driving.
But using a designated driver doesn't just save lives - it can also help protect the environment. The same survey found that two-thirds of respondents believe using a designated driver also helps the environment by reducing miles driven, saving gas and reducing emissions.
Anheuser-Busch's Web site www.DesignatedDriver.com features designated driver information and great holiday party tips for guests and hosts alike. These include serving a variety of food and beverages at your gatherings; remembering to offer non-alcohol options like soda, coffee or O'Doul's; encouraging guests to space their drinks; and to stop serving alcohol at least one hour before the party ends.
Good hosts want to see their guests have a fun time, but it's also important to make sure everyone stays within their limits. Even more imperative is making sure that someone in the group is selected as the designated driver when the evening begins so everyone makes it home safely.
From Anheuser-Busch, here's to wishing you a safe and happy holiday season!
