Governments, corporations, organizations, and small companies all have one thing in common: They need leaders to help them overcome obstacles and grow."In these challenging times, strong and effective leadership will determine which organizations will struggle to survive and which organizations will redefine themselves and emerge even stronger," says Dr. Rebecca Sidler Krysiak, director of Walden University's new Master of Science in Leadership program.
Today's challenges -- the tough economy, high unemployment, and lack of consumer spending -- all create the need for more leaders.
Walden is offering the new leadership program to give students the tools and best practices they need to excel in today's complex organizations. The new program will prepare students across disciplines to lead others and to create positive change at every level of their organizations.
"This new degree program will help students define their own leadership styles and provide them with the tools they need to look beyond simple measures of profit and loss to understand the complex interdependencies that drive today's diverse and highly dynamic organizations," says Sidler Krysiak, who has served in leadership positions for several Fortune 500 companies.
Students complete seven required courses, three specialization courses and an integrative capstone course. Students can choose from the following eight specializations:
* Entrepreneurship
* General Management
* Human Resources Leadership
* Innovation and Technology
* Leader Development
* Project Management
* Self-Designed
* Sustainable Futures
Walden's College of Management and Technology also holds a speakers series that offers students the opportunity to learn from business leaders in corporate social responsibility. The series provides knowledge and insight to students, business professionals and academics from around the world.
