Owen Finch, of Inyokern, has always known he wanted a career in video development and production. And when he graduates from the University of California Irvine, he'll be ready to go to work. With the professional software and training programs he's purchased from Academic Superstore, Owen is developing his design skills and says "I plan to apply them in combination with technical skills I'm learning as part of my engineering degree, to move towards a career in the development of video production methods and products." He learned how to use the software at school, but is getting most of the practice he needs to perfect his skills from the comfort of home.
Amy Sibbel, 22, a former college student from Iowa, knew going in that school would be expensive. What she didn't know was how much money she'd be spending on classes outside of the requisite tuition and textbooks.
As a math major, Amy needed a Texas Instruments BA II Plus professional calculator for her classes, but she struggled to find one that was affordably priced.
Both students were able to save big bucks - up to 85 percent - on the top-quality software and hardware they needed by turning to academic retailer Academic Superstore. The company has partnered with top technology manufacturers such as Adobe, Microsoft, Sony Media, and Wacom to provide economically-priced software to students and teachers.
"While you save significantly on price, academic resellers do not skimp on value. We only sell full-version software and each product is entirely identical to products sold at your nearest computer store," says Steve Ledbetter, vice president of Academic Superstore.
In exchange for these low prices, software manufacturers require customers to provide resellers with proof of academic eligibility. Academically discounted software is available exclusively to the parents of students and students themselves currently enrolled in school, along with presently employed teachers. Home schoolers may also receive academic discounts, in many cases.
To purchase from an academic reseller, just fax or email proof that you are a student or educator. Acceptable proof of eligibility includes a copy of a student or employee ID, a currently-dated class schedule, or a letter of verification signed by a school official. Check your academic reseller's Web site for other examples of accepted proof of eligibility.
"At retail price, software often doesn't fit the budget and gets delegated to a wish list," says Ledbetter. "We provide affordable software to students and teachers so they can have access to the technology essential to fulfilling their goals."
Academic Superstore is a leading academic software reseller for more than 500 manufacturers. To search their library of products and online store, log on to www.academicsuperstore.com.
