Do you want to pursue a college degree to switch careers, get the job you've always wanted or make more money? Now is the time, and getting a degree is more consumer-friendly than ever. Did you know that more than 60 percent of colleges and universities now offer online educational programs? Online learning is growing in popularity because students can pursue their degree from the comfort of home, whenever they want and at their own pace.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, 20 percent of college students are pursing a degree in business. Business degrees are a perfect fit for numerous professions including careers in marketing, sales, accounting, finance and consultancy.

One business role growing in demand is that of a financial manager. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2004, financial managers held roughly 528,000 jobs, but by 2014 that number is expected to climb 9 to 17 percent. Financial managers are in demand because of increasing regulatory reforms and the expanding economy. This is a great opportunity for business students and also highlights the need to have an in-demand degree. Employers will look for candidates that have a degree in finance, accounting, or a related business field and many will seek individuals with a master's degree in business administration, economics or finance.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics notes that financial managers are needed at nearly every company, government office and organization. Their job responsibility is to supervise financial reports, investments and financial strategies and to help organizations focus on long-term goals. Financial managers are also responsible for knowing the unique qualities of their industry. For example, government financial managers have to know the ins and outs of government budgeting and appropriations; all financial managers must be aware of unique regulations and tax codes in their specific industry.

Once individuals get an online business degree, they will likely reap financial payoffs in a new career. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, "business administration and economics/finance graduates saw a 6.2 percent and a 3 percent boost in average pay to $38,254 and $40,630, respectively."  In addition, a 2005 survey by Robert Half International found directors of finance earn up to $178,250.

eLearners.com, an online education resource that connects prospective students with online learning providers, has nearly 700 accredited online business and online MBA degrees from 80 accredited online colleges and online universities. The site's searchable database allows people to compare different programs to find the perfect fit for their individual needs.
