The Ultimate Dad Gift: Better Sleep Does your Dad snore all night long, complain about having trouble staying awake at work and nod off on the couch every evening right after dinner? If so, those are sure signs that he is sleep deprived.

The average adult male needs between six and eight hours of sleep to function at the top of his game, but most get considerably less and would be considered sleep deprived, according to the National Sleep Foundation. Whether the reason for this problem is that he stays up late watching TV or surfing the Internet, helping the wife take care of a fussy baby or insomnia, suffering from sleep deprivation can lead to a host of problems, including:

* Increased risk of motor vehicle accidents;
* Increase in body mass index -- a greater likelihood of obesity due to an increased appetite caused by sleep deprivation;
* Increased risk of diabetes and heart problems;
* Increased risk for psychiatric conditions including depression and substance abuse;
* Decreased ability to pay attention, react to signals or remember new information.

Many men are aware of these potential problems but don't want to take prescription sleep aids because they fear the medication will make them sleep too much, and interfere with their quality of life.

We all love Dad and don't want him to suffer any of those fates, so this year, how about getting him a Father's Day gift that will improve his quality of life dramatically -- a high-tech tool that trains his brain to achieve the restorative R.E.M. sleep he needs.  POWR/NAPS sleep products, available for purchase on the manufacturer's Web site: www.nap26.com are non-drug audio sleep systems that utilizes  binaural beats (auditory beats that are heard when two tones with slightly different frequencies are presented separately to the two ears via headphones) to train the brain to relax and awaken without the risk of grogginess.

If you want to help Dad get a good night's sleep get him a copy of Easy2Sleep which uses vibrations to relax Dad and help him fall into a deep sleep, so he can get the full benefit of being in a REM cycle all night long. NAP26 is a sleep aid he can use when he just has a few minutes to catch some z's. It uses vibrations to relax the user, then gently wakes him up energized in 26 minutes, the optimum time determined by NASA to take a power nap.

Once you present him with his gift, all Dad has to do is download the CD into an iPod or any MP3 player supported by iTunes, or use a CD player, plug in his ear-phones and turn it on. He won't be able to thank you enough when he wakes up the next day, energized, alert and more productive.
