Traveling? Avoid Peak Season and Save!

Family vacations offer a perfect opportunity to get away from it all; a chance to escape from work, school and the rigors and stress of everyday life.  One thing that is difficult to escape, however, is the crowds.

Traveling to popular destinations during peak season, you will find yourself enjoying the sights, sounds and attractions of an area - with what may seem like half of the world's population.  But often, you can avoid the crowds, the lines and the vacation stress of peak season by traveling at other times instead.  You may also save a lot of money.

Traveling to Orlando with the little ones?  If you can avoid the peak summer season or the busy school holiday periods, you'll find the lines at favorite parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and SeaWorld much shorter.  You'll spend less time waiting and be able to see and do much more during your day at the park.

In Florida, off season months such as September, October and May not only allow greater flexibility and less crowded parks, but by avoiding the hottest summer months, you're also likely to enjoy some of the most pleasant weather the Sunshine State has to offer.  

Other types of destinations can provide an entirely different outlook when traveling off-season.  For example, Park City, Utah, is known for having the "greatest snow on Earth."  This host venue for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games is besieged by ski buffs from November through March.  

But when the snow melts and the skiers disappear, Park City remains a beautiful and viable vacation alternative.  The quaint mountain village and former mining town filled with cozy shops, inns and cafes offers a peaceful getaway from the everyday hustle and bustle.   And there's still plenty to keep the entire family happy.

You can hike through the mountain aspens, mountain bike on the spectacular Rocky Mountain terrain, test your golfing skills on a beautiful mountain course or tackle a day fishing on a swift-running stream.  You can also see this "top of the world" from an even higher vantage point . . . a hot air balloon, or experience the thrill of an exciting Alpine Slide.

Even the most avid skiing enthusiasts would find Park City to be just as wonderful during the off season.  They would also enjoy accommodations rates that are substantially less than during ski season, quite possibly as much as 50 percent less.  That's a huge savings and money you can spend on another aspect of your vacation.
