It can save homeowners up to 15 percent off heating and cooling bills, earn them up to $50 in annual bill credits, and help manage electricity use until peak electricity demand subsides.

The free programmable thermostat is a $300 value. This easy-to-program, ENERGY STAR thermostat allows you to custom program your temperature preferences to your schedule: weekdays, Saturday and Sunday. It has a convenient vacation override and an easy-to-read, backlit display.

By participating in the program, you will also help during peak electricity periods.
Peak demand times occur when everyone uses a lot of electricity at the same time. The frequency of peak demand periods has increased as our population and the use of electric appliances has grown -- and both have grown tremendously over the past 30 years. This program helps regulate your energy use in your home during these times. This is one way we can all help manage the skyrocketing demand for electricity in our area.
