Are all oil filters compatible with differing motorcycle exhaust systems?

by DoItYourself Staff

No, all oil filters cannot be used for different motorcycle exhaust system. The oil filters of cars cannot be used in motorcycles. This is because the oil filters of cars have higher pressure compared to that of motorcycles. Generally, oil filters are divided into two types. They are canister filters and spin-on filters. The canister filters are the older type of motorcycle oil filters and they are attached using springs and bolts. The spin-on filters are the latest variety of oil filters and come in various sizes. These are the type of oil filters used in the latest models of motorcycles. Proper care and maintenance of the oil filter is necessary for the engine to work efficiently. Each make and even specific models of motorcycles will require their own unique oil filter.
