Basement Remodeling In 8 Days

Complete basement remodeling in 8 days with this easy guide. Whether you are creating a game room, entertainment room or home office, there are some basic steps that you can follow when finishing your basement that will get the job completed quickly and efficiently.

Before beginning any remodeling project, it is strongly recommended that you contact your local municipality to get up to date on building codes in your area. Codes vary widely throughout the country and what may have been true a few years ago may have changed since then. In most places, you can access your city and state building code information online.

What You Need

  • Tape measure
  • Basement finishing kit
  • Carpet
  • Paint
  • Lighting
  • Furniture

Basement Remodeling Steps

Day 1 – Determining the purpose of the room you will be renovating. By completing all the planning beforehand you will move the project along quickly. Determine what kind of lighting you need, how many outlets are necessary, whether or not you need phone and internet connections, and any additional wiring that will be necessary before the project gets underway. You may need to hire an electrician if you are planning on adding more complicated wiring for a home theater of office, whereas if you are just adding something simpler like a family room, you may not need to hire someone.

Days 2-4 - Evaluate factors in the room that may require additional work before completing your room. This should include looking into any moisture issues, HVAC, insulation, drainage, framing and mold. Replacing or combating against these problems now before your new space is completed will save a lot of work in the future and will help ensure the longevity of your new room. For habitable rooms, generally ceilings must be 7 ½ feet high and 7 feet for halls and bathrooms. If your basement does not fall within this range, it oftentimes is more cost effective to dig the basement deeper than undertake new construction. Look into your options and contact a licensed contract for your options.

Day 5 – Select a basement finishing kit and have it installed by the company you purchased it from. Look for a kit that includes a complete warranty and removable panels so that you can have access to your foundation.

Days 6-7 – Once you have the walls in place for your new room, carpet and paint the area using complimentary colors. Choose eco-friendly paints that are safe for pets and children if necessary. Choose high texture paint for a more rich color. Select a thick carpet and thick carpet pad to prevent the cold cement floor from affecting your comfort.

Day 8 – Arrange your room for its purpose.

I have many years of experiece involving "Basement Finishing". I do agree with the author of this message, with this exception...Modern Basement Finishing Kits, now come in the form of a "do it yourself kit". I think you should not pay someone else, to install a Basement Finishing System you can do yourself! If you are at all handy, you can install this kit! It comes with insulated removable wall panels and a large selection of colors!
Lifetime Warranty, installation instructions..etc.

Google: Basement Finishing Kits, some big familiar names will come up, bypass them.. you will see only one company that truly provides a "do it yourself" kit.
