Bathroom Accessories Bring It All Together

There’s no better way to complement your new bathroom than up-to-date bathroom accessories. This is especially true if you’re on a budget, as many reasonably priced accessories can easily spruce up a space that’s a high-traffic area. Whether for comfort, looks or convenience, products available today can make all the difference in the world.

Linens – Start with the Basics

What do you use most often in the bathroom – outside of toilet paper and toothpaste? The answer is linens. Among the choices you have for bringing your bathroom look together are towels, available in countless colors, thickness, styles and absorbency. Together with your other accessories in the bathroom, linens can make a difference in the overall look.

Bathroom Décor Items

Bathroom accessories also include items such as toilet paper holders, dispensers for soap, cleanser, shower gel, shaving or hand cream, toothbrush holders, drinking cups, wastebasket and tissue box covers, among others. Don’t forget towel bar, bath door hooks, towel warmers, and other items. Tying them all together brings a sense of uniformity and completeness of design to your bathroom that you don’t get with mix and match items. When you decide to give your bathroom a new look, consider every item in it that you can buy from the same source. If not the same source, look for materials and design that are similar. For example, if you favor pewter as a material, buy all pewter accessories for your bathroom décor. The same holds true for wood, porcelain, glass, plastic, chrome, and gold and silver finish. You get the idea. What you’re striving for is the overall look of completeness.

Style Considerations

The overall style in your bathroom will also help guide your choice for bathroom accessories. You can opt for the classic and tasteful look of traditional décor with straightforward design and numerous colors. Modern style incorporates creative, sleek designs with many neutral colors, different shapes and materials. Country cottage accessories tend toward a cozy and comfortable feel with lots of wicker and various looks such as Americana, flowers, cherubs, etc. There’s also Southwestern style, novelty, children’s bathroom style, high-tech, eclectic and old world. Just be sure that your style for bathroom accessories goes well with the fixtures, paint, lighting and other parts of the overall bathroom look.

Materials

As for materials, much of what you’ll choose will depend on the style you’ve selected. Modern style covers the gamut from stainless steel and chrome to copper, pewter, nickel and other metals. Traditional style lends itself to wood, gold and silver finishes. Wrought iron and forged metals go with old-world style. When you’re looking at materials for your bathroom accessories, again consider the overall look. The goal you’re trying to achieve is to pull everything together into a cohesive design.

Go with a Single Manufacturer or Source

One easy suggestion is to select the manufacturer or source that offers the style, design, materials, quality and price that works for your budget – and your overall objective to bring your bathroom design together with the right accessories. Whether the manufacturer is Delta, Price Pfister, Kohler, Grohe, Moen or companies such as Horchow or boutique operations or artisans, the best bet is to stick with a single source to coordinate your accessory needs for the bath
